Creating a new division
The intention to establish new division is communicated in advance by the prospective division head to the President, Secretary-General, and Head Coordinator via e-mail. The details and the inaugural meeting are discussed, and the executives shall also be invited to participate at the meeting. The official record of the inaugural meeting shall be formally approved at the next board meeting.
Hungarian as a Foreign Language (MID) Division of HAALLT

Since its foundation on 6 June 2016, 94 members have registered, and 50 to 70 members regularly participate in the events organised by the division.
For division members who publish research articles, it is worth noting that the THL2 periodical has been awarded the “Scientific A” classification by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences (MTA).
The establishment of the division set an example. In 2018, two further divisions were created: the Translation Studies Division and the Terminology Division. These divisions, and any future ones, guarantee the continuous operation of the Association and they provide an opportunity for the members to actively participate in discussions about Hungarian applied linguistics and take part in workshop conferences organised by the divisions.

Translation Studies (FT) Division of HAALLT
The Translation Studies Division, the second division established on the initiative of HAALLT, started its work on 8 February 2018. The division’s main mission is to incentivise and coordinate the scientific and educational activities as well as the professional events of Hungarian translators and interpreters.
The establishment ceremony took place at the Professional Day of Translation Training hosted for the second time by Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church. Following the keynote speech, the audience of 140 people voted by secret ballot and elected Júlia Dróth as the Head and Zsuzsanna Ugrin as the Secretary of the Translation Studies Division. The division was launched with the opening speech given by Honorary Division Head Kinga Klaudy.
Following the event, the division’s 20-member Organising Committee was formed, aiming to coordinate professional events of a wide range of Hungarian translation and interpreting training institutions.

The first meeting of the committee took place on 13 April 2018 at Károli Gáspár University whereby the members agreed upon the division’s biannual meeting schedule, a common platform for professional events, and the introduction of new topics, such as the popularization of translation and interpreting in secondary education as well as involving language teachers and learners in translation and interpreting.
Terminology Division of HAALLT
The aim of HAALLT’s Terminology Division is to advance and support Hungarian and foreign language terminology research, education, and specialised training. To this end, professional events on terminology are regularly organised, and the division cooperates with other organisations, research groups, and educational institutions interested in terminology.
The Association’s Terminology Division was established on 15 February 2018 at the Institute of Hungarian Linguistics of Károli Gáspár University of the Reformed Church. At the founding meeting, participants were greeted by Vice President of HAALLT Ágota Fóris. Via secret ballot, Dóra Mária Tamás was elected as Division Head and Eszter Sermann as Division Secretary, unanimously.
